Tower blocks at the back of Pentonville Prison could be housing Islington families in desperate need of a home, reports The Islington Gazette.
Local Councillor Diarmaid Ward said:
“We would love to get our hands on these, especially because there’s quite a few four-beds in there. This would be ideal for temporary accommodation – we would use them tomorrow if we could.
“As a borough, we need to lobby the MOJ over this. It’s a real crying shame, and we need the people of Islington to join us in making their voices heard.”
The issue has also been covered by news channel, LondonLive and includes interviews with local campaigner, Jean Willson and Councillor, Diarmaid Ward.
