Could Holloway offer a prison break from the housing crisis? Housing worker and local campaigner, Glyn Robbins thinks so and has written an article calling for prison land to remain in public ownership and developed into council homes.

The launch of the Plan for Holloway survey received wide press coverage, with articles in the Evening Standard, Islington Gazette and Islington Tribune. It was followed up by a letter in the Gazette, titled ‘Islington is hardly home of elite’. Local residents and Community Plan for Holloway staff were interviewed by TV news channel London Live.

Just up the road at Pentonville prison, residents and local councillor, Diarmaid Ward have called for empty flats to be refurbished by the council to provide much needed housing.
