COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT ORGANISER

Community Plan for Holloway (CP4H) has been awarded a grant, to support its work campaigning for the local community to be at the heart of redevelopment plans for the former women’s prison in North London. Check out CP4H here https://plan4holloway.org/ and here https://twitter.com/Plan4Holloway

We are looking for a friendly outgoing person, who can drive forward the Community Plan. You will be a self-starter and have experience in campaigns/charities/NGOs. You will be managed by the chair of the Community Plan and answerable to the board of directors.

Role: Community Engagement Organiser

Salary: £15,445 per year, paid via PAYE, for 21 hours a week (some flexibility here if needed). Plus pension and paid holidays (national average, pro rata).

Period: One year of employment in the first instance. There will be a 2 month probation period, with regular support and reviews. 

Hours: 21 per week. To be worked flexibly, but evening and some weekend working will be required, for example to support internal governance or meetings. 

Location: Office in St George’s Church, N7 0ND, with ability to do some work from home. Attendance at meetings in that locality and occasionally other parts of Central / North London.

Key tasks, for which relevant skills and experience are welcome

Community Engagement & Outreach: You will be reaching out to and connecting with local people in Islington. Working with community groups and reaching people whose voices are least heard, bringing in people who are not already involved.  

**During COVID-19 social distancing Engagement & Outreach will be carried out digitally**

  • Meeting local groups, door to door canvassing, running info stalls and other forms of outreach (once Covid restrictions allow, but digitally for now). 
  • Building a network of volunteers as Street and Group Contacts. 
  • Working with the CP4H board to maximise creative opportunities for community engagement. 
  • Supporting existing working groups and encouraging the development of new ones – including scheduling, taking minutes, tracking tasks, writing copy, research and correspondence. 
  • Organising events, including local public meetings and workshops. 
  • Competency in the use of computers and digital communication e.g. Microsoft Office, web platforms and social media.
  • Maintaining databases and data entry. 
  • Maintaining records, including expenses.
  • Other reasonable activities as needed to ensure the local community are involved meaningfully in the redevelopment of the site.
