Housing association Peabody has bought the Holloway site. Peabody will be developing the land in partnership with private property developer London Square and plan to build 1,000 homes there.

We’re holding an emergency meeting on Saturday 30th March between 2PM and 4PM at St George’s Church, Crayford Road, Tufnell Park N7 0ND for local people to come and discuss how to make sure the community is at the heart of the Peabody development. There will be speakers from the Community Plan, Manalo and White architects and more to be announced.

The hard work of the community has made this step forward possible

The proposals which have been laid down are the result of the hard work of local people, community groups and the council and the firmly held views of each about what should be built on the land. But this is just the beginning of the campaign. We need to ensure that the community has a big say over the design and build – ensuring the influence of the community over the development all the way through the process.

What the developers are offering

The developers are saying that 60 per cent of the homes will be ‘genuinely affordable’, with 42 per cent at social rents. A centre for women and public green space will also form part of the development. The Visitor’s Centre will be temporarily used as a homeless shelter while building takes place. Peabody have said they want to consult with local people and they expect work to begin in 2022. The land was sold for £81 million, and Peabody were provided with a loan of £42 million from the Mayor of London’s Land Fund.

We have made more progress than we could have imagined when we had our first community meeting in November 2016. As a community we have the opportunity to ensure the best outcome possible.
