We are looking for 12 young people (aged 16 to 19 or up to 24 with SEND) to join a ‘Youth Research Project’steering group. The steering group members will lead research activities with their peers across Islington relating to the Holloway Park Development.
What is the ‘Youth Research Project’ research about?
Community Plan 4 Holloway (CP4H) has commissioned a research project to highlight the views of young people around the new Holloway Park development. The youth research team will find out about the experiences, needs and ideas of local young people around a range of topics including what young people feel is important in a community and the facilities local young people want on the Holloway site. Go to plan4holloway.org for more info about CP4H.
Steering group
Central to this research project is a steering group, which will be made up of young people from across the London Borough of Islington and will be supported by our experienced youth worker.
The steering group will attend six workshops starting in February 2025, and will:
- Learn communication and discussion techniques
- Discuss research methods and their preferred styles and learn how to deliver these
- Agree upon a set of questions which will help to gain the data needed
- Plan and agree upon where to find young people to get the data from
Once the workshops are completed the steering group will attend local youth organisations and meet with young people to carry out the research. There will be an additional 2 or 3 meetings where the steering group will analyse the research findings and plan how to share them with others.
What will you gain from being involved?
You will benefit by:
- Learning about a range of research methods and how to carry out a research project
- Developing skills, such as communication, teamwork and confidence
- Having the chance to work in partnership with other young people from across Islington
