The Community Plan for Holloway is recruiting for a new part-time Community Organiser, to work as part of a team to get the best from the redevelopment of Holloway Prison for the local community.

Job Title: Community Organiser
Salary: £33,481.80 equivalent – pro rata to £16,740.90 per year, for 17.5 hours a week (some flexibility here if needed). Paid via PAYE. Plus pension and paid holidays (national average, pro rata).
Period: Two years of employment in the first instance, subject to funding. Currently the project is funded until June 2025. There will be a 2 month probation period, with regular support and reviews.
Hours: 17.5 per week. To be worked flexibly, but evening and some weekend working will be required, for example to support internal governance or meetings.
Location: Office in St George’s Church, N7 0ND, with ability to do some work from home. Attendance at meetings in that locality and occasionally other parts of Central / North London.
This is a flexible and varied role.
You will be working with and in the community in different ways across issues of housing, women’s rights, equality and the environment. This post will suit someone with a strong passion for social justice who can work alongside others to make an impact.
Key tasks, for which relevant skills and experience are welcome:
Community Organising: You will work as part of a small team to build strong,transformative relationships with people in the community, especially those in marginalised groups. You will develop organising and leadership skills in the community, so that they have the tools to positively impact the Holloway development.
Communications: You will work on both internal and external communications, ensuring that internal and external audiences are kept up to date with and engaged in CP4H activities, through a range of channels and social media.
Job description:
- Community outreach, including meeting local groups, door to door canvassing, running info stalls and other forms of outreach to reach diverse groups of people
- Communications, including regular e-bulletins, social media, use of CMS to update our website and engaging with local and national media to enhance CP4H’s voice. Familiarity with WordPress is a bonus.
- Working with the CP4H board to maximise creative opportunities for community engagement
- Facilitating and organising community meetings/workshops – including scheduling, taking minutes, tracking tasks, writing copy, research and correspondence as well as chairing
- Maintaining databases and data entry
- Maintaining records, including expenses
- Other reasonable activities as needed to engage and inspire the local community to get involved meaningfully in the redevelopment of the site
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in the above, through either paid or voluntary work. They will be able to work collaboratively and bring their ideas to the campaign.
