Between April and September 2017 Community Plan for Holloway ran an online and paper survey asking for people’s views about the future of the former Holloway prison site.

With the help of local people and community groups we distributed survey leaflets to around 8,000 homes near to the prison.  We attended local events, spoke at public meetings and organised street stalls giving out around 20,000 survey leaflets.

Working with the charity, Women in Prison, we  also consulted with women in the criminal justice system.Community Perspectives Front Cover

By mid September, more than 930 individuals and organisations shared their views with us.

Our latest report, Holloway prison: Community Perspectives, summarises the key findings from the survey and shows strong support for;

  • The land to remain in public ownership
  • Genuinely affordable housing
  • Community space
  • Green space
  • Provision of services for women, children and young people

These findings will help to provide a framework for the draft community plan due for publication by Community Plan for Holloway in 2018.
